Re: High Data Volumn ETL Performance

Shiva,
You also have to consider the slowest point in your operation: network. You are pulling data out of your database which has to travel through the network to where your ETL process is running (local client?), then it has to go all the way back to the database.

Linking External Parameters

Hi, I'm trying to configure projects to share objects, and want to know if there is a good way to do this. I was thinking of creating a common.prm file to defined shared parameters, but there is no integrated way for a project to include another projects parameters. The work-around I implement is to...

Re: Reading gzip+tar files

Thanks. That worked like a charm.

My local 2.8 user guide doesn't seem to be in sync with the latest changes. I'll bookmark the online version.

Re: DB_OUTPUT_TABLE component and DELETE query

You can construct your query like this:
delete from x
where a = $a
and (b = $b or (b is null and $b is null))

Re: Reading gzip+tar files

Can you provide an example of how gzip files are read with the universal data reader? For example, I have the following files in /data: a01.dat.gz a02.dat.gz a03.dat.gz I tried to set the file url as such: gzip:/data/a*.dat.gz That isn't recognized, however. I'm not sure what else I need to pass in ...

Temp files

Hi,
I'm running into space issues on my test server after my process died, and was using more space than I expected, so I started digging into the temp directory. Here, I found the files like ".fbufclv7983916022867621543.tmp". Can I go ahead and remove them?

Re: Can't connect to DB in server project

I think this was my fault. The db I was trying to connect to seemed to be down. I restarted it, and I was able to connect.

Thanks.

Can't connect to DB in server project

Hi, I am testing a server project configuration, and have not been able to create a valid database connection through Designer. If I try to execute through the server scheduling tool, then it runs the database dependent components, which is evident from the logging, however, I can't get this to work...

Re: Server Graph Error

I used a new eclipse installation, and re-installed Clover, then created a server project off the same sandbox, and I'm now able to open the server graph.

I've run into a different problem that I will describe in a new post.

Re: Server Graph Error

I found multiple instances in the log file and wasn't sure which was related. I also tried to reproduce, but I couldn't get the client to connect to the server. Here's what I got from one of the exception stacks: java.lang.IllegalStateException: Stream already closed at org.jvnet.mimepull.DataHead$R...

Named Objects

Hi, I'm seeing a lot of inconsistent use of object names. For example, I'm not able to use a relative name for a connection object so creating them from external links becomes an adventure of how to create connections in specific orders for different projects, so I can reference them as Connection0,...

Server Graph Error

Hi,
I am working on a server project, and am getting this error after I created a graph:
"Cannot open graph editor"
"Stream already closed"

This happens each time I try to open the graph. I'm also able to repeat this by trying to create additional graphs.

Re: Missing CloverETL Server Project option in Eclipse

I was using the eval version which did not have the server project option. I have worked with our account rep to get a version that has the option. Thanks.

Data profiling application

Has anyone thought of or tried to develop a data profiling application? I want to be able to create data statistics and histograms for an incoming data flow.
